Each August, 100,000 or more rabid car enthusiasts flock to the quiet Monterey Peninsula, just south of San Francisco, for the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. The reunion week is typically themed to pay tribute to a historic occasion in the automobile world. This year, the celebration was to mark BMW’s 100th Anniversary.
Nick Parente and David Rose, two long time BMW Car Club of America members from the East Coast, are both talented videographers with a life-long passion for BMW vehicles. Having both attended the famed Monterey automotive fest in years past, these young entrepreneurs wanted to draw attention to BMW’s 100th Anniversary in style, and what better way than to drive a BMW across the country to get there!
In order to realize their project, Nick and David needed a car. After speaking with the BMW Car Club of America about their idea, BMW of North America agreed to lend them a brand new 2016 BMW 640i convertible to make their dream cross country trip, and the Celebrate BMW Tour was born.
With the addition of a number of big name sponsors, such as Michelin, Shell, Sony, IHG Rewards Club and more, contributing to their effort, Nick and David approached AMI Graphics for some temporary custom vehicle graphics suitable for their epic journey. The vehicle graphics included vinyl lettering, custom vinyl decals, and a custom vehicle wrap over the trunk area of the convertible depicting a map of their intended route, where they would be making specific stops all across the country at various other motorsports and enthusiast related events along the way. These custom vehicle graphics made it easy for Nick and David to both showcase their sponsors as well as give their audience an idea of what their trip was all about.

After the custom graphics were finished, Nick and David geared up for their 4,000 mile adventure to Monterey. The trip would include numerous stops including a visit to the BMW Team RLL Race shop in Hilliard, Ohio, a drive down Route 66, a climb up Pikes Peak, a stop at the famed Bonneville Salt Flats, and a variety of other fun adventures along the way to share their story and their trip with like-minded enthusiasts as they headed west.
Arriving in Monterey ten days later, Nick and David were able to meet up with fellow BMW enthusiast and AMI Vice President, Erik Wensberg, to discuss their travels. Nick and David’s passion for BMW vehicles and skills with a video camera, combined with their fashionable ride decorated with custom vehicle graphics made for a once in a lifetime, cross country adventure!
