Each August, 100,000 or more rabid car enthusiasts flock to the quiet Monterey Peninsula, just south of San Francisco, for the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. The reunion week is typically themed to pay tribute to a historic occasion in the automobile world. This year, the celebration was to mark BMW’s 100th Anniversary.
Nick Parente and David Rose, two long time BMW Car Club of America members from the East Coast, are both talented videographers with a life-long passion for BMW vehicles. Having both attended the famed Monterey automotive fest in years past, these young entrepreneurs wanted to draw attention to BMW’s 100th Anniversary in style, and what better way than to drive a BMW across the country to get there!
In order to realize their project, Nick and David needed a car. After speaking with the BMW Car Club of America about their idea, BMW of North America agreed to lend them a brand new 2016 BMW 640i convertible to make their dream cross country trip, and the Celebrate BMW Tour was born.
With the addition of a number of big name sponsors, such as Michelin, Shell, Sony, IHG Rewards Club and more, contributing to their effort, Nick and David approached AMI Graphics for some temporary custom vehicle graphics suitable for their epic journey. The vehicle graphics included vinyl lettering, custom vinyl decals, and a custom vehicle wrap over the trunk area of the convertible depicting a map of their intended route, where they would be making specific stops all across the country at various other motorsports and enthusiast related events along the way. These custom vehicle graphics made it easy for Nick and David to both showcase their sponsors as well as give their audience an idea of what their trip was all about.
You can watch Michael, one of AMI's talented installers, masterfully applying the vehicle graphics in this video.
After the custom graphics were finished, Nick and David geared up for their 4,000 mile adventure to Monterey. The trip would include numerous stops including a visit to the BMW Team RLL Race shop in Hilliard, Ohio, a drive down Route 66, a climb up Pikes Peak, a stop at the famed Bonneville Salt Flats, and a variety of other fun adventures along the way to share their story and their trip with like-minded enthusiasts as they headed west.
Arriving in Monterey ten days later, Nick and David were able to meet up with fellow BMW enthusiast and AMI Vice President, Erik Wensberg, to discuss their travels. Nick and David’s passion for BMW vehicles and skills with a video camera, combined with their fashionable ride decorated with custom vehicle graphics made for a once in a lifetime, cross country adventure!
“When we decided to do a livery on the vehicle, we knew that it had to be high quality. The decals not only needed to 'pop' on camera for all of the content we were producing, but it also had to stand up to over 5,000 miles of sun, rain, and road wear. Luckily, the team at AMI knew exactly how to execute our vision. From the design renderings to the installation of the graphics, AMI always had our back and figured how to make our ideas work.” – Nick Parente, Celebrate BMW Tour

Visual office and facility renovations that involve construction can be a costly endeavor that most organizations aren’t readily able to take on. However, signage can offer a simple way to make visual improvements to a certain area or an entire facility without breaking the bank. Frosted window graphics are a great option for adding visual appeal and giving a high-end look to any window or door.
Frosted window graphics are a version of our custom vinyl decals and vinyl lettering that creates the appearance of etched glass. Frosted window graphics are a popular option for branding blank windows and doors since it provides a simple and classic, yet high-end appearance while also providing a layer of privacy if needed.
Southern New Hampshire University used frosted vinyl decals in their athletics and recreation center entrance areas as part of a rebranding project to spice up blank windows and promote school spirit.
Northeastern University added frosted window decals to windows in their training and weight rooms to provide privacy while also showcasing their signature Husky Paw logo.
When looking for a visual update to their recreation complex, Boston College used frosted window graphics to display logos of activities offer at the complex. This not only indirectly promoted their programming, but also gave a fresh, new look without the cost of a major renovation.
After the conversion of a student lounge into a student-athlete media room, Saint’ Michael’s College used custom window decals to provide privacy for those in the media room while also helping to block light from the lobby from interfering with the viewing of game film.
The University of Massachusetts Amherst chose frosted window graphics to dress up blank glass walls on balconies in their new, dedicated track and field complex. They also chose frosted vinyl lettering for wayfinding signage and door decals throughout their ice hockey complex and offices.
The University of Massachusetts Lowell and the University of New Hampshire both used frosted vinyl door decals to showcase their brand and welcome student-athletes, fans, and recruits to their athletic facilities in style.
Whether you’re looking to visually update your entire facility with a cohesive branding plan or to simply display your logo or lettering while filling space on blank windows and doors, frosted window graphics offer a perfect solution for any branding challenge.
The Green Mountain Stage Race is a four day bicycle stage race that takes place every Labor Day. Starting in Vermont’s idyllic Mad River Valley, the event runs through the picturesque Vermont countryside before finishing up in the state’s queen city with the Burlington Criterium.
After partnering with AMI Graphics for their sister race, the Killington Stage Race, the Green Mountain Stage Race reached out to help take their race branding to the next level to improve the race atmosphere as well as provide a positive first impression for potential sponsors. The plan was to start small this year, and increase their signage inventory in subsequent years.
A stage race poses an interesting event signage challenge in that every day, the race moves to a completely different location. Therefore, the Green Mountain Stage Race needed temporary signage solutions that would make a big impact while also being easy to move to the next stage each day.
The portable signs added for this year’s stage race were event mesh banners. These mesh banners were installed to the crowd control fencing along the main portions of each stage of the race. Event mesh banners are lightweight, easy to install, and transform the necessary, but unsightly, crowd control fencing into a powerful branding or sponsorship tool.
Also created for this year’s event were portable signs that were designed to fit onto the Green Mountain Stage Race’s current, plain podium and continued the race branding that was seen along the course to the finish ceremonies of each race stage. In case of foul weather and the need for indoor awards ceremonies, a custom media backdrop was ready and waiting. On tap for next year is a completely custom podium designed by AMI Graphics’ talented Creative Team.
After a successful first year implementing a cohesive and increasingly progressive event signage plan, the Green Mountain Stage Race is poised to continue to attract big name riders and big name sponsors.
“This year’s race looked the best that it ever has. The banners really help to bring the event appearance to the next level, and knowing that I can make these banners for a reasonable price will allow us to be able to improve our sponsorship offerings in the coming years.” – Gary Kessler, Director, Green Mountain Stage Race/Killington Stage Race
