There is a theory in business that you can look at a company and its employees as a bus filled with passengers, and it’s up to the company leaders to fill that bus with the right people. The concept behind this theory is that as a business, you don’t always know what lies ahead, but having the right people in the right positions helps mitigate unforeseen circumstances and takes the bus further. At AMI Graphics, we have the right people on the bus, and this bus is still rolling.
Having the right people in the right positions results in a staff that works as a team and all pulls in the same direction. When Boston College reached out to our Sales department with a wall mural project and a hard deadline, the teamwork at AMI allowed the job to be turned around quickly. In total, the job consisted of adhesive wall murals, social distancing floor graphics, and directional signage and was completed all within the client’s desired timeframe. To better understand how this job was turned around quickly, we will look at how each department contributed.
Our sales staff works closely with clients to understand what they want to accomplish with their project so we can use our expertise to recommend products, materials, and more. After speaking with Boston College to understand the scope of the job and finalize materials, the Sales department recorded every aspect of the order and sent it along to our Creative department.
The Creative Design department is the cog that keeps the bus moving. Every product we produce goes through our Creative team to be properly proofed and readied for production. Once Creative receives the files to be proofed for production, they work closely with our Sales department to understand the job so that proofed files reflect exactly what the customer envisioned. After proofing the necessary files, Creative sends them to the Color Management department to ensure the colors that are displayed on printed materials will be accurate.
Color Management is a key step in the production of any type of signage. Computers and printers sometimes handle colors differently, resulting in a noticeable difference between what you see on your monitor and what your printer produces. Our Color management department exists to neutralize these inherent differences and to produce the closest match possible to a desired color. When working with an organization like Boston College, matching colors accurately is vital to maintain uniformity in branding. To match colors accurately, the Color Management Department works closely with the skilled machine operators on the shop floor to ensure the final product is as close to the target color as possible.
The machine operators then print the signage on the necessary machine and perform a visual comparison to check for color accuracy. Any special finishes to the signage is then applied and the completed products are packaged to be shipped or installed by our expert installers. Upon completion of the production, the shop communicates with the Sales department to notify them so we can send our install team out to make our client’s vision a reality.
No step in this process is more important than another, which means it takes everyone to get the job done properly. Through teamwork and communication, we are able to turn jobs around quickly and efficiently. AMI Graphics is here and ready to help you navigate your signage needs both now and in the future.
