THE BACKGROUND
Located in Colorado Springs, Colorado College was undergoing construction on a new athletic facility that would be used year-round by their various hockey, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, cross country, track, swimming, and volleyball teams for competition and training.
The soon-to-be final project was a major deal for the 2000-student school, and it needed a complete indoor and outdoor visual enhancement package and plan to highlight all the new accoutrements for athletes, alumni, administrators, and fans.
The school needed guidance on how to best showcase the venue’s Grand Hall, the school’s athletic program history and current teams, and the various alumni that went on to play in the National Hockey League.
Director of Athletics Ken Ralph knew that for an important project like this, he needed to be confident in his graphics partner — especially with a tight budget and even tighter timeline. Satisfied with a past engagement at his previous school, Ralph put in a call to AMI Graphics, experts in creating incredible visuals in places that don’t yet exist.
THE WORK
The AMI Graphics team pulled together a project plan and design that met the college’s bold vision, configuring an entire branding package that included dimensional signage, custom logos, murals, and custom window graphics.
In addition to leveraging the team’s installation experience, Colorado College also used AMI’s creative services department to help conceptualize a design for a space that was still under construction.
THE RESULTS
The three-phase project was completed over eight months and was both on time and on budget — a complete branding/visual enhancement package that was consistent with school branding.
Dimensional signage, custom logos, wall murals, window graphics and a custom Hall of Fame now adorn the inside and outside of the new athletic facility, all highlighting past history and successes — a nod toward their past while positioning Colorado College strongly for the future.
When it comes to meeting big expectations with a short timeframe and a hardline budget, go with the PhDs of the industry — AMI Graphics.
