Durable Indoor and Outdoor Banner Solutions

Event environments can be demanding. Weather, wind, repeated installation, transportation, people and items bumping into things, and storage all play a role in determining the best banner material for your application. AMI Graphics offers several banner options to help meet those challenges: Our team helps you select the right material based on where the banner will be displayed and how it will be used.

Event Banner Materials, Sizes, and Finishing

Every event banner we produce is printed and finished to meet project specifications. There is no fixed catalog of sizes, and finishing is selected based on how and where the banner will hang.

Materials

Vinyl. Flexible PVC, printed full color. Waterproof and UV resistant, with the weight to hold its position if it encounters wind. The most common choice for entrances, registration areas, sponsor banners, and general event branding.

Mesh. Perforated flexible PVC that allows air to pass through, which reduces wind load on the banner and on whatever it is attached to. Standard mesh is an 80/20 weave, meaning 80 percent solid surface and 20 percent open. Used for fence lines, outfield and sideline sponsor runs, racetracks, and open-air festival sites.

Cloth. Polyester or nylon, available dye sublimated. The non-reflective surface holds color under bright indoor lighting, which makes it an optimal choice for award ceremonies, hospitality areas, indoor tournaments, and anything that will be photographed under venue lights. Cloth banners are also a good option for a short-term outdoor placement, depending on application.

Material selection depends on where the banner hangs, how much wind it will take, the lighting conditions, and how many times it will be installed and taken down.

Sizing

Banners are produced to your custom dimensions. Large event graphics eventually exceed  the practical size for a single panel  as the weight makes handling and safe installation difficult. At that scale, we build the graphic as multiple panels that combine into one image, preserving  the visual scale while making installation manageable for the crew on site.

If your venue already has a hanging system, cable run, or frame in place, we finish to those specifications so the banner works with the hardware you own.

Finishing options

Trim to size. Cut to your dimensions with no additional hardware or material.

Hems. Heat-welded on vinyl and mesh; stitched on cloth.

Hems and grommets. Finished hem with #2 grommets set every 18 to 24 inches. Custom spacing available on request.

SEG. A thin silicone strip sewn directly onto the edge of cloth, which inserts easily into a thin frame to achieve zero wrinkling of the cloth.

Keder. A single flap, which can be welded or sewn to your fabric or material.

Webbing and grommets. Webbing stitched into the perimeter with high-wind grommets. Recommended for exposed outdoor sites and for larger banners that need added edge strength to carry their own weight.

Velcro. Loop side stitched to the back of the banner with the adhesive hook side supplied. Either side can be stitched depending on your installation.

Pole pockets. Sleeves that let the banner hang from a pole or cable, or hold a dowel to add weight at the bottom edge.

Hardware is available for most display situations. If you are working with existing fencing, barricades, truss, or a stage frame, tell your account manager what you are attaching to and we will recommend the finish that fits.

Complete Event Branding Solutions

Event banners are just one part of a successful event branding program. Many organizations combine banners with other products to create a cohesive look throughout the venue. AMI Graphics also provides: Coordinating these elements creates a cohesive event environment that helps the entire event space and experience feel intentional.

Top 7 Reasons to Use Event Banners

1. Transform a Space on a Deadline

Most events happen in venues built for something else. A parking lot, a field, a downtown block, a convention hall. Banners are the fastest way to make that space read as your event, and they go up and come down within the setup and teardown window you’ve been given.

2. Deliver on Sponsor Commitments

Sponsorship agreements promise visibility, and the event graphics have to deliver it. Banners create placements you can point to in a recap report and photograph for the sponsor’s own marketing. Sorting out sizes and locations during planning is easier than figuring out where to put a sponsor logo on load-in day.

3. Move People Through the Site

Attendees arrive without knowing where parking, registration, restrooms, or the start line are. Banners answer those questions from a distance, which eases congestion at entry points and cuts down on the questions your staff and volunteers have to field all day.

4. Reuse Year Over Year

Banners without dates, scores, and one-time sponsor names can be reused year to year. A mix of reusable and event-specific graphics can reduce annual reprint costs.  Your account manager can help decide which pieces need a date and which can stay evergreen.

5. Cover the Ugly Bits

Chain link, barricades, scaffolding, equipment staging, blank walls, and unsold seating all sit inside the sight lines of your event. Banners cover what you don’t want people to see while turning otherwise unused space into an opportunity for sponsor visibility.

6. Hold Up on Camera

Media backdrops, stage graphics, finish lines, and award areas appear in photographs, broadcast footage, and social posts long after the event ends. Material and finish matter here. Cloth avoids glare under lights, and clean edges keep the shots looking finished.

7. Travel, Install, and Store

Events repeat, change venues, and run in multiple locations. Banners are easy to fold, ship, and store between uses in ways rigid signage are not. Finishing choices such as webbing, grommets, and pole pockets affect how quickly a crew can hang them and how well they stand up to repeated handling.
