The 2019-20 hockey season ushers in the 11th year of partnership between AMI Graphics and the Boston Bruins and TD Garden. While we are looking forward to many more with a recently signed partnership extension, we can’t help but reflect on the past ten years.
The past decade has seen us partner with the Bruins and TD Garden through three Stanley Cup Final appearances, including one Stanley Cup victory, as well as numerous playoff appearances. We have also worked together through special events and projects like the ISU World Figure Skating Championships, an additional front office location for Bruins and TD Garden staff, renovations throughout TD Garden, and construction of The Hub on Causeway creating a new entrance into TD Garden. All of this is on top of countless regular season games for the Bruins and Boston Celtics, concerts, and other special events.
“Having a decade’s worth of experience together allows for a level of communication and trust that is invaluable,” said Glen Thornborough, chief revenue officer for the Boston Bruins and TD Garden. “We know that we are getting the highest quality and best customer service on everything, from routine directional signage for the Legendary Transformation taking place at the arena, to unique projects that go beyond our four walls, including new opportunities that are part of the recent multi-media rights partnership we announced with Northeastern University Athletics.”
Some of the regular signage we provide to the Bruins and TD Garden throughout the year includes: dasher board graphics, stair riser decals, wall murals, window graphics, ice resurfacer wraps, door decals, sponsor signage, and more.
We have been called on many times over the past 10 years to collaborate on special signage projects and event signage. Here are a few of our recent favorites.
2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs
The 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs were exciting not only because of the Bruins lengthy run into the Stanley Cup Final but because the new entrance to TD Garden had opened only a few months before, providing a fresh, new space to add signage and branding for the playoffs.
For the early rounds of the playoffs where both the Bruins and the Boston Celtics were playing, we printed and installed stair riser decals that were used to create a mural featuring both team logos.
When the Celtics were eliminated and the Bruins moved on to the conference final, the stair riser decals were updated accordingly.
Once the Bruins punched their ticket to the Stanley Cup Final, TD Garden and the NHL called upon AMI Graphics to transform the new entrance and atrium with signage showing off team, league, and event branding. The stair decals mural was updated to an image of a larger-than-life Stanley Cup while cloth banners were added along the railings and I-beams.
At the top of the landing, window graphics were installed with complementary decals on the doors below to create an impressive greeting into the building.
The signage and branding of the atrium was completed with the installation of a reinforced mesh banner across the front, ready to welcome passionate fans into the games and creating a stunning visual at the entrance of the building viewable even from a distance.
Other signage projects completed and installed for the Stanley Cup Final included a large building banner facing the highway, a floor graphic and truss banners for the fan fest, elevator wraps, and more throughout TD Garden. Various signage and graphic items were also used to brand and promote the Stanley Cup Final at the official event hotels throughout the city of Boston.
North Station Construction
The ongoing renovation projects at TD Garden and North Station from the construction of The Hub on Causeway have created a continuous need for custom signage and graphics to help the facility look its best, even while under construction.
The first phase of construction in North Station in 2018 saw large sections of the station blocked off by temporary walls used to separate areas under construction from the areas still open to the public. We worked with TD Garden to print and install wall murals on all temporary walls to add visual appeal to the blank and unsightly temporary walls, while also promoting the construction of The Hub on Causeway and the sports and entertainment offerings provided by TD Garden.
TD Garden and Boston Bruins Secondary Office Location
In preparation for the various concourse levels of TD Garden to be renovated and the start of construction on The Hub on Causeway, several TD Garden and Boston Bruins offices were relocated to a building down the street from the arena.
With this move, we worked with the front office staff to ensure that their new satellite offices felt like home. Wall murals were added throughout the offices featuring iconic scenes from the current TD Garden and historic moments from the old Boston Garden. Stair riser decals were used on the interior office stairs creating a mural of the Stanley Cup in honor of the Bruins’ six Stanley Cup Championships, and dimensional lettering and logos were used at the office entrance as well as entrances to individual offices and conference rooms.
As we move into the second decade of our partnership with TD Garden and Boston Bruins, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to both organizations for their continued trust in us to produce and install world-class signage for their world-class events. We look forward to many more.
