[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Support poles and columns are a structural necessity in any facility. While architectural advances have come a long way over the years resulting in less obtrusive support needs, poles and columns are still pervasive. Unfortunately, poles and columns can be unsightly obstructions and taking on a major renovation can be difficult and costly. Printed pole wraps and printed column wraps are a popular signage solution to this problem because they provide an easy and effective way to turn what used to be an eyesore into an appealing part of a building. Printed pole wraps can also be a great way to maintain the historical integrity of older buildings, while simultaneously giving them a fresh, new look.
Printed pole wraps, typically made from adhesive or banner materials, immediately enhance the appearance of an otherwise dull aspect of a structure. However, they are used for more than just beautification. Printed pole wraps can strengthen branding for an organization, create additional advertising space, provide wayfinding signage, and much more.
Adhesive Printed Pole Wraps
Adhesive printed pole wraps are ideal for long-term applications where signage is permanent and a high-end appearance is desired. Expert installers from AMI Graphics position adhesive printed pole wraps with precision to give the final product a painted-on look.
Harvard University reached out to AMI Graphics to give the historic Blodgett Pool a facelift. Built in 1977, Blodgett Pool is one of the finest collegiate swimming facilities in the nation, but after 40 years the facility had become dated. Harvard decided to use a wall mural to honor past student-athletes. Rather than allowing the structural columns to become an obstruction, adhesive printed column wraps complemented the mural with the Harvard Shield and the various aquatic sports that call Blodgett Pool home.
At Oyster River High School in Durham, New Hampshire, they repurposed blank columns in the hallways to strengthen branding and promote school spirit. By using smaller adhesive printed pole wraps, they were able to stay within their budget while still creating an impactful visual.
Printed Banner Pole Wraps
For organizations that require more flexibility, printed banner pole wraps provide a convenient and effective signage solution. They are created by wrapping a vinyl banner or cloth banner securely to a column with hook-and-loop fasteners. Installation and removal is simple, allowing customers to reuse them or move them to new locations without damaging the surface underneath.
In 2014, Runner’s World chose to use printed banner column wraps to indicate the runner registration location for the Heartbreak Hill Half & Festival. When the race was over, they were able to remove the signage without leaving any trace that it had been there. The printed banner column wraps could then be stored and used for future events.
The University of New Hampshire used printed banner pole wraps inside the Whittemore Center for wayfinding and advertising. Rather than leaving the poles blank, UNH took advantage of their prominent locations and placed seating information on them. Making the most out of the space, the additional area on the printed pole wrap was sold as ad space, creating a new source of revenue for the school. Because UNH used printed banner pole wraps, if the seating information or the advertiser ever changed, replacing the vinyl banners would be easy and affordable.
At Coastal Carolina University, printed banner column wraps showcased student-athlete accomplishments. What was once a bland area underneath the bleachers at their football stadium became a place for players, fans, and prospective recruits alike to gather. These printed banner column wraps not only improved the visual appearance of the stadium, but also supported the branding strategy for the university. Because Coastal Carolina chose printed banner column wraps, they can move them easily and replace them affordably.
