As you may have heard, it has been an unprecedented/uncertain/unusual/unique year. That’s certainly not untrue, but limiting the human experience in 2020 to a few adjectives that start with the letter “u” doesn’t do justice for the majority of people who have done great things this year. For one, Americans have shown an uncanny ability to quickly adapt to a new lifestyle. Modified health protocols, jumbled schedules, remote learning, and much more are all just part of daily life now for many. You make it look easy, even if it isn’t, which makes a strange world feel mundane as we all wait for things to return to normal. Like many of you, AMI Graphics adapted to the unprecedented circumstances as well.
When we started making prototypes for the InteliShield Protective Barrier, a clear acrylic safety shield, in March, we didn’t know that in just eight months we would be making them for every polling location in the state of New Hampshire for the 2020 Presidential Election. However, as long as safety remained a concern, we continued workshopping ideas for new InteliShield models that would meet the needs of our clients.
InteliShields
InteliShield Protective Barriers are clear sneeze guards constructed from sturdy acrylic material. They provide a protective shield between people which helps prevent the spread of airborne contaminants and keeps businesses operational.
The initial models of the InteliShield were designed to meet the needs of our clients at that specific time. Early on, retail stores, banks, and other essential services that require face-to-face interactions were trying to figure out how to remain operational in a safe way. After workshopping the challenge, the AMI staff came up with three InteliShield models that would allow our clients to remain operational while following public safety protocols.
Desk Shields
As the summer progressed, states began determining how to safely send students back to school in the fall. Once again, our customers were facing a challenge that needed a solution, so the AMI staff got to work on the Desk Shield. These shields were designed for classrooms, with smaller dimensions to fit on a school desk and larger side walls for added protection for all students. Despite the hard deadline, the AMI staff worked diligently to make sure schools were ready when students returned in the fall.
Election Shields
With the election approaching, the state of New Hampshire knew they couldn’t let Covid-19 jeopardize the democratic process and reached out to AMI to help. Having already adapted the InteliShield various times, we were ready to fabricate a new version to help keep voters safe on Election Day. The AMI staff once again came up with a new modified design and began producing and shipping Election InteliShields. With more than 330 polling locations in New Hampshire, our ability to produce and ship a high volume of products within the client’s desired time frame was key to a safe and healthy election day in New Hampshire.
